Dating in French-speaking Switzerland
Tchieu c't équipe is the dating app built for Suisse romande, the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Meet real, local singles in Geneva, Lausanne and across the region, whether you are Swiss or new to the country.
Moving to Switzerland, or simply living here, can make dating feel complicated. International apps show you profiles hundreds of kilometres away, often across the border, and the local social scene can seem closed at first. Tchieu c't équipe solves both problems. Every profile on the app is local, based in one of the seven French-speaking cantons and regions: Vaud, Geneva, Valais, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Jura and the Bernese Jura, with 102 documented communes from the Geneva lakefront to the Jura hills.
The essentials are free. Creating a profile, browsing singles near you, sending likes and chatting after a match cost nothing, and there is no message quota. An optional Swiss Protect plan has been announced but cannot be purchased yet, so no payment is taken today. When it launches it will add protections only, such as blurring explicit photos received in chat and flagging messages that show the usual signs of a scam. It will never unlock a conversation or push a profile up the list.
Trust is handled the Swiss way. Profiles can be verified with a photo check, messages are encrypted, and your data is hosted in Europe under the Swiss data protection act (nLPD). It is never sold to advertisers. You decide what appears on your profile, and you can state clearly whether you are looking for a relationship, friendship or something lighter, so the people who write to you already know what you have in mind.
The interface is available in French, English and German, plus a Vaudois dialect version for those who enjoy it. The community itself is French-speaking, which makes the app a natural way to practise if you are learning. Many members in Geneva, Lausanne and along the lake are bilingual, and internationals who have settled in the region are welcome.
Matches are ranked by real distance. From a coffee on the Geneva lakefront to a walk along the Lausanne quays, a glass of wine in Lavaux or an evening in Neuchâtel's old town, your next date is a few kilometres away, not a few hundred. The app runs in any browser and has an Android app; an iOS app is under consideration, and iPhone users can use it in Safari today.
Frequently asked questions
Is the app available in English?
Yes. You can switch the interface to English, German or French in the settings. The community is French-speaking, but many members also speak English, especially in Geneva, Lausanne and along the Riviera.
Is it really free?
Yes. Signing up, creating a profile, browsing, liking and messaging after a match are free. The optional Swiss Protect plan is announced but not yet open to purchase, so nothing is charged today. It will only ever add protections.
Which regions does the app cover?
All of French-speaking Switzerland: the cantons of Vaud, Geneva, Valais, Fribourg, Neuchâtel and Jura, plus the French-speaking Bernese Jura and bilingual Biel/Bienne. Anyone in Switzerland can register, but the community and the matches are in Romandie.
How does the app protect my data?
Data is hosted in Europe and processed under the Swiss nLPD. Messages are encrypted and nothing is resold. Profiles can be photo-verified, so you know who you are talking to before you meet.
Does it work on iPhone?
The app works in any mobile browser, including Safari on iPhone, and there is an Android app. A native iOS app is under consideration.
